Employees Tab

The Company Directory and Org Chart can be found on the "Employees" tab.

Company Directory

If an employee has access to view the Company Directory, they can access it by going to the Employees tab and clicking on the Directory icon in the top right corner.

The Company Directory is automatically alphabetized by Last Name. Employees can be found through the search in the top left corner. The search bar will allow you to search by name, department, division, location, and job title.

You can group the directory by name, department, division, and location. There are also quick filters to narrow the directory down to the right group of people including:

  • My Circle (Your peers, manager, and direct reports)
  • Department
  • Division
  • Location
  • Custom Filter (Combination of multiple filters at one time)

Hovering over "direct reports" will show you a listing of those that report to this person.

Clicking "Quick access to the directory" will take you to a new tab with your company directory on it. You can bookmark this page to make it accessible to you without logging into BambooHR. The directory bookmark page will require you to log in every 30 days.

Org Chart

If an employee has access to view the Org Chart, they can access it by going to the Employees tab and clicking on the Org Chart icon in the top right corner.

  1. Select which employee you would like to start with and determine how many levels you would like to show in the chart.
  2. Click on the arrow to pull down the employees that report to that person. The number denotes how many direct reports the manager has.
  3. Refresh the chart to go back to starting with the CEO and his or her direct reports.
  4. Zoom in or out to get the best view of the Org Chart.
  5. Download and/or export the Org Chart.*

*Anyone with access to the Org Chart will be able to download or export it.

What are my Options When Exporting the Org Chart?

Export as a PDF or PNG

When you choose to export a PDF or PNG, the export will default to only show the current employees on screen. However, you can choose to customize the export in order to select a new set of employees. If you choose to customize the export, the following options will be available:

  1. Start with: Which employee do you want to be at the top of the Org Chart? Only those direct reports are available in this list.
  2. Levels to export: How many levels do you want to show under the employee you started with?
  3. Include: Check the box next to each of the items you'd like to include.
  4. Download option: Select which option you'd like to download.*

Once you click the download option, the Org Chart will output into an image in the dimensions that will accommodate the number of levels and people. This means that it won't be an 8.5x11. You will need to resize the image to meet your needs.

*If you're going to export a smaller Org Chart, PDF or PNG are both great. If you're going to export a larger Org Chart, we recommend you use PNG because the PDF is constrained on page size and can get unwieldy for larger Org Charts. The PNG is great for larger Org Charts because it will scale to whatever dimensions necessary without creating a lot of extra white space. Also, if you're going to put the Org Chart into a slide deck presentation, PNG is slick because it can be scaled easily to whatever size works best on your slide.

There is no option to paginate when downloading the Org Chart. We looked at various ways to make the output work in normal paper sizes; but in the end, we felt like the best way to give you the flexibility to arrange it and size it the way you need was to provide an image that you can resize (PNG) to any page, slide, or canvas size. Further, with the ability to choose who to start with and how many levels, it allows you to create sub-charts for teams or departments.

Export as a CSV

When you choose to export a CSV, you will receive the data for all employees in the organization instead of just what you currently see on the page. The information included in the export will vary by the type of CSV exported. Export is available in the following formats:
