Complete the Self Assessment as an Employee
How does an employee complete a self-assessment?
Purpose: To show you how an employee can complete a self-assessment.
Thirty days before a performance review period ends, an employee will receive an email notification to complete a self-assessment. There is a link in the email to go to the Self Assessment, or they can access it by going to the Performance tab, then clicking Assessment.
Once viewing the Self Assessment, the employee will answer the questions. It is important to note that assessments have an autosave feature to prevent losing data when BambooHR automatically logs you out after 30 minutes of inactivity. If the employee is in the middle of the Self Assessment and leaves the page inactive for more than 30 minutes, the answers they have filled out will be available when they enter their password to log back in.
If the employee needs to navigate away from the Self Assessment, they can click Save & Finish Later, which will save it in its current state, and they can come back to it at another time during the assessment period.
Once the employee completes the Self Assessment, the employee can click Submit.
The manager cannot see the employee's answers until they complete the Manager Assessment. Once the manager completes the Manager Assessment, the employee can only see the manager's answers to the two free text questions and any custom questions. Additionally, the employee can see their answers to the same questions (see below).
1. How well does [Company] recognize my value?
- I feel I am highly valued.
- I sometimes feel valued.
- I'm not sure others value what I do.
- I don't feel valued at [Company].
2. What would have the greatest impact on my ability to do my best work more often?
- The company direction or purpose was better defined.
- Coworkers were more committed to doing great work.
- Work that better fits my strengths.
- I have what I need to do my best work every day.
*If selecting Other, a text box will appear and requires the employee to add additional information before submitting the Self Assessment. The text box has a limit of 100 characters.
The employee needs to confirm the completed assessment, and they cannot make any changes once it is complete.
Once the employee completes an assessment, an admin user can unlock the assessment when needed.
Once an employee submits the Self Assessment, their manager will receive an email notification. When their manager completes the Manager Assessment, they can view the employee's answers in the email notification. If their manager has not yet completed the Manager Assessment, the email will include a link for their manager to log in and complete it.
An employee can review their past assessments by changing the review period in the top right corner of the tab.
