Please note a Full Admin user in BambooHR must enable this integration.
To begin installing this integration, go to Checkr in BambooHR Marketplace and click Install Application.
You will be redirected to a new URL to enter your BambooHR account subdomain*.
*The subdomain is the first part of your BambooHR URL. For example, if your BambooHR URL is https://helpcontent.bamboohr.com, your subdomain would be helpcontent.
If you have not logged in to BambooHR, you will arrive at your BambooHR login page to enter your login credentials.
Next, you will be redirected to a new URL to create a Checkr account. Once you have submitted your information to Checkr for review, you need to wait for credentialing, which takes one to two business days. Once credentialing is complete, Checkr will notify you, and you can start ordering background checks.
If you already have a Checkr account, click Sign In.
Before you can initiate a background check, you need to add the following four new candidate statuses. You can do this by navigating Hiring in Settings.
- Background Check Initiate
- Background Check In Progress
- Background Check Complete - Consider
- Background Check Complete - Clear
Note: For the integration to work, these statuses must exactly match in spacing and punctuation within your account.
For the background check to sync to Checkr, the job opening must have an Open status in BambooHR.
To initiate a background check through Checkr, change a candidate's status to Background Check Initiate. This action will send the candidate information to your Checkr account to begin a new background check. If the candidate already exists in your Checkr account, the status will automatically change to Background Check In Progress.
Log in to your Checkr account and navigate the Candidates tab. Find the candidate and send a background check invitation.
After sending the invite, BambooHR will automatically update with the appropriate status.
- If the candidate's report comes back clear, the status in BambooHR will change to Background Check Complete - Clear.
- If the candidate's report comes back for consideration, the status in BambooHR will change to Background Check Complete - Consider.
- If the candidate's report is not complete, the status in BambooHR will remain as Background Check In Progress.
Most background checks will complete within 24 hours but may take up to a few weeks, depending on the type of ordered check, the geographic location of the candidate, and/or county courthouse operations.
