Please note this integration must be enabled by a Full Admin user in BambooHR.
To begin installing this integration, navigate to Checkr in BambooHR's Marketplace and click "Install Application."
You will be redirected to a new URL where you will enter your BambooHR account subdomain*.
*The subdomain is the first part of your BambooHR URL. For example, if your BambooHR URL ishttps://helpcontent.bamboohr.com then your subdomain would be "helpcontent."
If you aren't currently logged in, you will be taken to your BambooHR URL to enter your login credentials.
Next, you will be redirected to a new URL where you can create a Checkr account. Once you submit your information to Checkr for review, you will need to wait for credentialing which typically takes 1-2 business days. Once credentialing is complete, Checkr will notify you and you may begin ordering background checks.
If you already have a Checkr account, simply click "Sign In."
Before you can initiate a background check, you will need to add the following four new candidate statuses. You can do this by navigating to "Hiring" in Settings.
- Background Check Initiate
- Background Check In Progress
- Background Check Complete - Consider
- Background Check Complete - Clear
Note: In order for the integration to work, these statuses must match exactly with spacing and punctuation in your account.
In order for the background check to sync through to Checkr, the Job opening must have an "Open" status in BambooHR.
In order to initiate a background check through Checkr, change the candidate's status to "Background Check Initiate." This will send over the candidate information to your Checkr account to begin a new background check. If the candidate already exists in your Checkr account, the status will be automatically changed to "Background Check In Progress."
Log into your Checkr account and navigate to the Candidates tab. Find your candidate and send a background check invitation.
Once the invite has been sent, BambooHR will automatically be updated with the appropriate status.
- If the candidate's report comes back clear, the status in BambooHR will change to "Background Check Complete - Clear."
- If the candidate's report comes back consider, the status in BambooHR will change to "Background Check Complete - Consider."
- If the candidate's report is not completed yet, the status in BambooHR will remain "Background Check In Progress."
Most background checks will be completed within 24 hours but may take up to a few weeks, depending on the type of check ordered, the geographic location of the candidate, and/or county courthouse operations.
